Stumbled upon this bakery on our way to a party, looking for a dessert to bring. What a great find! Their rainbow cake was amazing. Friendly, helpful staff and pricing is reasonable as well. They had many other beautiful and tasty looking desserts, we will be returning to try more!

Incredible desserts! You must try the cannolis! Very personable and extremely accommodating staff. Wouldn’t go anywhere else.

One of the last true bakeries around and good

I was looking forward to getting some nice authentic Italian pastry and spent over 20.00 on a variety of things. They had a huge variety but what I got was just ok. I got custard cups whichI like but my favorite was a hazelnut chocolate cookie thing great flavor tons of nuts and nice and crispy def recommend it..fried dough with powdered sugar a brownie and something that looked like a marshmallow on top that was as hard as steel. To me the prices were a little high. The locals recommend it and swear by it I wish the young kids that waited on me offered more guidance in choosing something and offered more info on what was in the cases cuz they have tons of stuff to choose from. If in the area i would go back and try something different.

I live up North and was visiting my mom who recently moved to Toms River. We wanted Italian pastries, cookies and cake and a neighbor recommended La Scala. Knowing we are Italian, she said we wouldn’t be disappointed and she was right!! There was a huge selection of pastries, cakes & cookies and the staff was very pleasant & knowledgeable... Everything was extremely fresh and delicious!! We will definitely be back!

Mostly Italian pastries, coffee & tea. A couple of tables and a dozen chairs. Nice laid back place for a snack

The bread, rolls and croissants were delicious. I can't wait to try the chocolate covered eclair that we got. If it's half as good as the breads, I'll still give this place 5 stars.

I come here a lot because they have the best of everything. If you want to go classy to serve or to give, and so as to have it for yourself and your family, this is the best place. From cakes, pastries etc, you will never go wrong and if you see me around when you happen to stop buy, just remember that I was the one that brought you to this place. Haha! Everything is good. Make it as one of your trip to treat yourself today and more days...

My family and I have been going there for as long as I can remember.. at least 20 years. Everything is absolutely delicious!! And the staff is always kind and helpful! Definitely the BEST ever rainbow cookies!!!

Never again will I go here. The desserts I bought for my mother's birthday were old and stale. The cannoli are not fresh they sit prefilled and soften the shell. One of the cakes we had tried looked, felt and tasted like sponges stacked. I would advise anyone looking for a good bakery to not go here.

Authentic taste, great service, decent prices.

I ordered a cake for my 7 year old son who has autism. Since it was short notice they couldn’t do spongebob so I asked for the colors. The cake had blue flowers when I specifically asked for blue around the side of the cake and yellow airbrush. It was barely yellow looks white. When my husband went back in that he was upset about the outcome the cashier was rude and said this is what we we ordered no refund can’t be fixed. Who ever took my order wrote blue flowers when I did not want flowers. I am very upset and disappointed! I’ve worked in a bakery years ago Vitellos in Nutley I’ve never had someone order a cake and at the very least couldn’t be fixed. I should not have paid in advance.

Rainbow cookies were dry. The canoli was soggy. Eclair was chewy/soggy but filling was really nice. Would I go back? Probably not. The prices are extremely high though I had no idea what the cost was. $4 for 2 rainbow cookies that were honestly, the worst I ever had. Sad, just pure sugar and no taste of almond paste and so dry that I could barely swallow it. 5 pastry a loaf of semolina and the rainbow cookies near to $25. Disappointing that the quality is no where's near to what it was.

I have gotten several cakes, rye bread and pastries. Never been disappointed. I got an eighth grade graduation and High school graduation and several birthday cake. I suggest cannoli rum!

The most important thing just like restaurants is consistently. La Scala never let's me down.I have been coming here for many years. Ordered the cakes for the IHOP employees all the years I worked there. I loved them than and we still buy them these days. Well most recently I brought a few people to La Scala for Gelati. I really think it got better and more delicious. If that's even possible. We all got 2 flavors. The Pistachio has huge whole nuts in it the Chocolate was just perfect. Lemon was better than any I have had. We also bought cookies, Italian bread,and cannoli. Everything was delicious

Got cookies there at 10.00 a lb and were stale. The cannoli was not fresh either. Will never go there again. Note to bakery check the ltalian cookies with choc chips they were horrible.

Coming from "Up North" I never thought I would be able to find a good Italian bakery. La Scala is the only one that I have found with the most delicious bread and treats to rival their northern counterparts!! I try to go in with blinders on, to get only what I need or went in there for, but the sights and smells take over and I rarely leave without more than I came in for> Would give 10 stars if I was allowed!

Good cookies and there jelly filled cookies are amazing

I went there early Easter morning for loaf of Italian bread and a few pastries. Bread was hard and stale. The eclair and carrot cake pastry were dried out. Very disappointed 😔

A real Italian bakery even make bread

Drove 20 miles to get 2 Struffoli at this bakery and they were very very stale, old, and dry. tried to return them, but owner said "noaaa waaay, alll la myyya salesaa is a final" so, after paying $28.00 for 2 struffoli, and a stale loaf of semolina bread, we do not recommend going there, and we will never go back. Maybe he should try sampling his own products before selling them and most places would understand and try to rectify the problem, but not this stubborn owner...

Purchased a strawberry covered cheesecake this Saturday. It was delicious! LIght and tasty, not too heavy!

This bakery was awful!!! No selection on cakes. I needed an all chocolate cake for my father. I asked the girl what kind of cake was inside she said chocolate, nope it was vanilla and the cake was dried out. Awful! I was going to travel to my favorite bakery in hazlet nj but decided to run in to get a cake since I was picking up my laundry at cleaners. My mother in law said she had their coffee cake and it was dried out. If you want a great bakery go to normandie bakery in hazlet or Simonas in wall!

Not sure what has happened with this bakery In regards to cakes. The cakes use to be so good and moist . Got a cake for a bday and it was dry and icing was flavor less . Filling was great though. I use to get cakes all the time here for bdays few years back and they were very moist and flavorful.

Rude girl working today!! I've never received such nastiness from here before. Never again as long as she works there.
